Baby/Child Dedication:
The church will, at a parent's request, perform a dedication service for babies and children during worship. Biblically we acknowledge that a child is a gift from God and note that Mary and Joseph took the infant Jesus to the Temple for dedication as a baby. The Dedication Ceremony is one in which the parents and siblings present the child to the congregation and honor God as the One who gave the child to the family. The parents respond to commitments to raise the child in a Christian home, teaching the child of Jesus. Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:6-7 and Ephesians 6:4 remind us of the need to instruct a child on the way of the Faith. Extended family is recognized as being instrumental in the life of the child. A rose and certificate is presented to the parents in honor of the child. Infant baptism is not a practice of the congregation so water is not used in this ceremony.
